In celebration of the launch of DIVA DECISIONS, I've created an accompanying PowerPoint presentation titled "Quotes by Women in Power on Women and Power" which features quotes by current or former female heads of state. The messages and themes coincide with a chapter in the book, DIVA DECISIONS: How to Get from Smart to Intelligent by Claiming Your Power of Choice. For example, in Chapter 11 of the book, I tell a story about Self Preservation from the perspective of two young college friends named Terry and Vanessa. Their friendship takes you on a journey that reveals the smart versus intelligent choices they make to take care of themselves by increasing self-awareness and building more insightful relationships.
In a quote that resonates with the message of Chapter 11, the former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Benazir Bhutto, says,
"Benazir Bhutto doesn't cease to exist the moment she gets married.
I am not giving myself away. I belong to myself and I always shall."
The slide presentation celebrates the minds and personalities of the world's most powerful women. The most humorous quote is by Theresa May, current Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, who comments on the public's fascination with her shoe fetish. The quote that resonated with me the most is by the former President of Argentina, Christina Fernandez de Kirchner. The quote that made me feel proud of how far women have come is by the President of Liberia, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf. The quote that surmises my everyday challenge is by the President of Chile, Michelle Bachelet. She is also one of the world leaders I would most like to meet.
